Join The Triumph Of The Skies

Merry Christmas folks! A short few thoughts for you on this happy dawn. In the carol 'Hark The Herald Angels Sing' we find the line 'Join the triumph of the skies.' As someone who has studied the ancient world I simply think of a Roman triumph, the procession of a Roman general through the city of Rome, coming home from conquest. Remember Commodus in Gladiator? Well that's the sort of thing.

I can't help but think there is anything less in Heaven. It's Christmas, the festival celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. So let's join the triumph of the skies, let us take time to remember Him, revere Him, worship Him! Let us join in chorus with each other, and with heaven and sing praises to His name!

Let us remember that He didn't come in splendour, but in the words of Stuart Townend;

"From the squalor of a borrowed stable,
 By the spirit and a virgin's faith;
 To the anguish and the shame of scandal
 Came the saviour of the human race."
                     -Stuart Townend
